by Helen Barnes // July 2 2025

We are seeking a professional with expertise in horticulture, conservation or environmental stewardship to join our local advisory board as a co-opted member.

This voluntary position will help guide our strategic decisions and ensure we meet the needs of all students as we continue to transform our unique 350-acre site into a sustainable and accessible learning space.

The co-opted advisory board member will work in partnership with the college leadership and land owners to advise on policies for biodiversity, habitat management, and climate resilience across the site.

You will bring specialist insight and experience to green initiatives on site and champion projects to enhance learning opportunities for our students.

Anyone taking on this highly rewarding role will be expected to commit to serving a four-year term, attending three full board meetings per academic year. Additional site visits may be scheduled as needed.

The co-opted board member will also sit on the cultivate working group, contributing to termly action plans, budget recommendations and supporting environmental impact assessments.

Applications are especially welcomed from those with experience in project management, an understanding of local conservation priorities and a collaborative mindset, who can offer a fresh perspective and constructive challenge.

A passion for involving young people in hands on conservation and environmental leadership activities would also be welcomed.

College Principal Jon Ascot said:

‘This is a unique and rewarding role where you can help shape our strategic goals and be part of the positive work taking place on our college site.
